Publishing Parties
3rd grade wrapped up their Traditional Tales Unit, 4th grade wrapped up their Historical Fiction Unit, and 5th grade wrapped up their Adventure and Survival Unit. Each student completed a final project related to their unit and was able to show off their hard work to their peers!
Solar Eclipse
All students were able to witness the solar eclipse! All grade levels gathered in the field with their solar eclipse glasses and enjoyed watching this rare event!
Real Men Read
So many amazing men came into Sunnyside to read to our students! Students were so excited to see new, friendly faces reading some great books to them!
Chick Eggs
Some classrooms received their incubators and their chick eggs! Throughout the month Ms. Morrison taught students about chick eggs. Students are so excited to finally meet the chicks once they hatch!
No More Rumors
Mr. Weber, from Proviso Youth Services, talked about spreading rumors with our 5th graders. He taught us that once the toothpaste (rumor) is out of the tube you can’t get it back in (take it back)! It was a great lesson to learn!
House Meeting
Students met with their House and played an activity that allowed them to learn more about each other! Students had to find a partner from another grade level and answer questions about themselves to see what similarities and differences they had!
Earth Day
Mrs. Wisegarver and Mr. Carpenter taught students about different kinds of plants! They helped students plant their own seed. Students couldn’t wait to take their planted seed home!
Incredible Bats Assembly
A company called Incredible Bats visited Sunnyside with so many different kinds of animals! Students got to learn about animals from all around the world and then had a chance to see the animals up close!
