I Am Lucky Because…
March is all about luck! Students reflected on the reasons they are lucky in their lives. After reflection, they completed the sentence on a four leaf clover and colored them the way they wanted. These clovers were displayed on classroom windows for the whole school to see!
IAR IAR IAR
There was a lot of testing this month! Students worked very hard on IAR Tests for both Reading and Math. They were able to show what they know on these tests over the course of two weeks.
Math Olympiad
Sunnyside students participated in the Math Olympiad. This competition includes students from all over the district. Students excitedly showed off their math knowledge. Many students received medals. We are so proud of each student that participated and worked so hard!
Scholastic Books
As part of the Lit Program, each student was able to choose a Scholastic book to keep. Each teacher brought their class into a room full of amazing books. After students picked their book, they were so excited to start reading!
House Meeting
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students once again came together during their monthly house meeting. This month’s focus during the House Meeting was for students to really get to know the students in their house from other grade levels. All students received a find a friend Bingo sheet. They had to walk around the room asking each other questions and filling out the boxes with different student names. The student that had all of the boxes filled out first called Bingo!
SCOTY
This year's School Citizen of the Year (SCOTY) award winner Yatziri was formally recognized at West Leyden! It was an amazing night celebrating all SCOTY award recipients. We are so proud of Yatziri for representing Sunnyside!
Spirit Week
Students were able to have fun the last week of school before Spring Break by participating in our Spirit Week days. We had Hat Day, Neon/Bright Colors Day, Sports Day, Dress to Impress Day, and Comfy Cozy Day. It was so nice to see so many students and teachers participating in the fun!
